What is an Exegetical Guide and How Do I Use it?

What is an exegetical guide and how do I use it?

The word “exegesis” means “interpretation.” An “exegetical guide” is a Bible study and teaching tool that leads users into the correct interpretation and teaching of Scripture. So for select key passages revealing God’s will for Christian unity, we provide these detailed guides. These detailed guides introduce the passage, compare the original Hebrew or Greek with seven English translations, describe its structure, flow of thought, and main idea, and recommend several resources for further study.

Then they show you how to communicate the passage to others by outlining the passage, providing a concise commentary, suggesting applications and illustrations, and even offering a complete sermon outline and manuscript, along with several examples of model preaching on that very passage. God’s children learn God’s truth and will from God’s Word. Our exegetical guides help you both to understand the Bible accurately and also to communicate it to others effectively.

How were the passages picked for the exegetical guides?

All the passages selected for our exegetical guides have a direct connection to the theme of unity in the body of Christ. If you want to preach and teach a series on Christian unity, we believe the collection of passages covered by the Be United in Christ Outreach Ministry exegetical guides would provide a solid foundation. We selected Biblical texts in which love, reconciliation, unity, and peace among the people of God was a prominent theme or main point. Our hearts have been transformed by these passages. We believe yours will be, too.
